The Translation:
Pallavi
Hey!men!
Wasted are those days
Spent
Without singing
The praise of (Lord) Muralidhara!
Anupallavi
Know you not the way to live
Worship (Him) you will not
Time thus spent
Of what use is your crying (now)
Charanam
Did not the elephant*
Cry out (for Him)
From the pond?
And, true
Was it not
In a moment
Its pining (for the Lord) fulfilled?
Worship Him
(Oh!Men!Worship Him)
The one
Who,
Cuts asunder the bondage
Of 'samsara'
Before its too late!
*Gajendran, the elephant devotee of the Lord, was attacked by a
crocodile when it went to a pond to quench its thirst. It
immediately cried out to none other but Lord Vishnu. Instantly
the Lord rushed to its aide. Even before arriving at the scene
the Lord had thrown His Disc ('Chakra') which killed the crocodile.
This only denotes that we who are being pulled in by the crocodile of
Maya in the pond of 'Samsara' have none but Muralidhara as our saviour.
If only we cry out to Him in all earnestness will He not rush to our aide?
