About Swamigal
Poojyasri Muralidhara Swamigal, affectionately called Guruji
by his devotees renounced his worldly ties at an early age to partake
in the redeeming of the Hindu faith and philosophy,
which is being grossly misunderstood by people
and is facing a danger of being infested with
charlatans and quacks.
Birth
It was 'Pilava varuda'(year) on the Indian calendar, the Tamil
month being 'Ippasi', 'Amavasai' (new moon) while the Star Swathi
ruled (November 8th 1961) that a son was born to the pious
Brahmin couple Sri Rajagopala Iyer and Smt.Savitri, in Manjakuppam,
Cuddalore, in the erstwhile South Arcot district. It was the
day of 'festival of lights' - Deepavali. There was merriment
all around with bursting of crackers and lighting of lamps.
The child born amidst 'light and sound' was named Muralidharan.

Early life
Unlike other children of His age Muralidharan was playing
with pictures of Sri Srinivasa Perumal. Yes, this child
was attracted to Srinivasa Perumal and always spent his
time doing abhisheka and the like to a picture of Srinivasa
Perumal. There was a small Ganesha temple near his father's
house in Cuddalore, which he frequented. Along with his eldest
brother he attended bhajans and discourses. Sri Rajagopala Iyer,
the pious person that he was always brought home for meals any
Sadhu that he came across. On seeing these Sadhus the child
Muralidharan deeply desired to become one like them! And the
'ochre robe' was a great attraction to the virtuous child.

The Mission
Sri Krishna, who has been enchanting sages and saints from time immemorial,
wanted our Swamigal also in his elite group of Prema Bhaktas
(devotees intoxicated with Divine love).
So, Guruji Sri Muralidhara Swamigal Mission was established by Swamigal.
A temple of Lord Srinivasa and Radha-Krishna (Premika Varadan with Madhuri Sakhi
as his consort)
in Madras and an Ashram in the peaceful and rustic surroundings outside Madras was also formed as a part of the mission.
Festivals like Janmashtami, Rama Navami , Vasantotsavam , etc. are celebrated
regularly. Swamigal plans to build a Radha-Krishna Temple
in Srivanam (170 kms south of Delhi).
The mission regularly honors Vedic scholars , Bhagavathars and Audhuvars.
The mission is also managing a school aptly named as
Sandipani Gurukulam
to teach Yajur and Sama Veda to young aspirants.

Swamigal's respect and love for Vedas and others ancient scriptures passeth
all human understanding. He holds the path of Bhakthi through Naama Kirthanam
(singing the names and glories of the Lord) in equal esteem. In fact ,
he favours Naama Kirtanam as the most relevant path in today's context,
as it is the easiest way to reach God.
Swamigal is well versed in all the branches of Hindu philosophy . His expertise
in interpretation of Vedic truths has surprised even highly erudite scholars .
This has convinced all, that he speaks not from borrowed bookish knowledge, but
purely by his experience arising from highest spiritual realisation
(what our Vedas refer as Jivan Mukthi and para Bhakthi).

Swamigal has composed (and is still composing) songs in Tamil and
Sanskrit, that are sweet and simple in praising the glories
of his Guru and the Lord.

Yet, like other true men of god,
he is no fanatic, without even a trace of bigotry in him.
His songs and lectures are typically characterised by the
absence of any criticism on other paths and religions.
He inculcates a spirit of universal acceptance, coupled
with intense faith and steadfast devotion on the path
the seeker is treading on.
