Amidst this 'Radaa kalyaana vaibhavame..' was sung, followed by 'Muthu kuthudhal' in keerthanas , 'Churnika' (description of the event), 'pravaram' - announcing the vamsa and gothra of the divine bridal couple. In the midst of chanting the 'Lagnaashtakam'and offering 'atchadai' - "THIRU MAANGALYA DHARANAM" - the divine wedding knot was tied.

Naivedya was offered and deepa aaradhanai shown. 'Radha Krishna vivaha paripurna prema pravaha....' naamaavali echoed throughout Bhagavatha Bhavanam. 'Kalyana Tharangam' - 'Aalokaye Rukmini Kalyaana Gopaalam' - brought the grand divine wedding to full circle. Mangala aarathi and Mahaa Naivedyam was done by Sri Swamigal.

The Ashram pond, lying between the Bhagavatha Bhavanam and the cow shed, with an idol of Sri Krishna playing a flute in the center, was all geared up for the 'theppam'. The pond was sprinkled with rose and other fragrant flower petals. Small lamps floated all over the surface of the pond water.

Amidst Naamaavali and Nadaswaram Sri Swamigal carried Madhuri Sakhi - Premika Varadan to the attractively decorated 'theppam'. The evening began in a high tempo with Sri Swamigal singing, 'Radhe Shyam...Radhe Shyam...' followed by 'Guru Maatha, Guru Pitha,...', 'Varuvaai Varuvaai, Gurunatha!...'

Sri Swamigal then softly pulled the rope tied to the 'theppam' as He moved slowly around the 'theppam' pond. 'Dolki', 'harmonium', 'jalra', and Sumanth Bhagavathar followed Him, all singing Bhajans. With every circle completed Sri Swamigal stopped with His 'Bhajanai Ghoshti' to start the next bhajan.

At such moments the little girls - Krithika, Priyanka, Chinmayi - all dressed in colourful 'paavaadai', went around the pond dancing 'kummi'. Wearing flowers on their head and a shy smile on their lips they added to the loveliness of the evening. The devotees stood around outside the pond enjoying every bit of the picturesque scene.

10.00 p.m. - 1.00 a.m.

DIVYA NAAMAM OF THE FESTIVAL by Sri Swamigal and the Satsang Divya Naama Group.

It was a Divya Naama that held sway over all! Led by Sri Swamigal Himself the thirty and odd number around Him danced in ecstacy! The last Divya naamam of the ten-day utsavam, it seemed to sum up the passion, the fervor and the zeal with which 'Janmaashtami' the birth of Lord Krishna had been celebrated.
