Jaanavaasam

The 'Jaanavaasa' procession of Premika Varadan (Lord Krishna) left the Ashram led by the captivating melody of Sri Bala chandar and Sri Bala Murugan's Nadaswaram. Sri Swamigal and the devotees enjoyed every note of the instrument. The players and music lovers lost themselves in the melody for nearly two hours! It was as if they had to be reminded of the ensuing programmes!

Madhuri Sakhi (Radha), on another palanquin, came to the portals of Bhagavatha Bhavanam to receive Premika Varadan (Lord Krishna) who had just managed to come out of the 'Nadaswaram reverie!' Both stood facing each other, surrounded by their own mates (!) and after the offer of 'mani thengai' Radha went around Lord Krishna thrice. A gorgeous velvet carpet welcome was extended to Krishna! Inside the Bhagavatha Bhavanam Radha and Krishna stood facing each other. Radha and Krishna each wore flower garlands. Radha came up to Krishna and offered Him her garland and Krishna reciprocated.

Jaanavaasam

The exchange of garlands went for a time. The two were then taken to the 'oonjal' (swing) and 'Nalangu' conducted. Sri Swamigal then offered milk - 'paal thodaradhu'. 'Sumangalis' then performed 'pidi sutharadhu' - yellow and red coloured rice balls are held in each hand and moved around the divine bridal couple. This was followed by 'Neer suthal'. Then the 'sumangalis' who performed the 'pidi suthal' also individually performed the 'manjal neer aarthi'.

Jaanavaasam

'Oonjal paatu' was sung as the divine bridal couple were ceremoniously swung by Sri Swamigal. Camphor aarthi was done and the divine bridal couple taken back to their royal 'mandap'.
