Kumari Poornima Kumarasami is a member of Chaitanya Maha Prabhu Nama Bhiksha Kendra. An expert ‘upanyaskar’, she is known for her clarity of thought, richness of ideas and abundance of elucidations to explain profound concepts of the Vedas and the Vedanta, easily understandable by the audience.  Her unique skill of translating complex Sanskrit scriptural verses into modern-day real-life illustrations have made her the favorite of many. She is specially known for her expounding of ‘Sundara Kandam’ from Srimad Ramayana and ‘Greatness of Maha Periyava’.

 Sow. Poornima’s strong inclination towards spirituality led her to the feet of His Holiness Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji under whose guidance, she undertook a detailed study of Srimad Bhagavatam, and subsequently, Srimad Ramayana, the Bhagavad Gita, and the life story and teachings of innumerable saints of the Bhakti tradition.  She is well trained in the Bhakti Shastras and the various Itihasas and Puranas.

 An engineering graduate, Sow Poornima was a software engineer by profession.  Experiencing the bliss born out of ‘Bhagavat Bhakti’ and the joy of reading and singing the Divine glory of the Lord, she desired to share it with others caught in the rumble of the ‘fast’, competitive world.  Towards this, she relinquished her job in order to dedicate her life towards propagating the lofty ideals of spirituality through Sanathana Dharma to the world.  Thus she took up ‘Bhagavat Guna Vivaranam’ and ‘Bhagavan Nama Pracharam’ as her vocation.

 Over the past few years, Sow. Poornima has lectured on a wide range of topics and has earned acclaim from her audience for her knowledge, devotion and eloquence. Her deep faith in and devotion to her Guru makes her discourse very effective and implants Bhagavata Dharma and Bhagvat Bhakti in the heart of the listeners.   She has discoursed on scriptures like Srimad Bhagavatam (Saptaham), Srimad Ramayanam (Navaham), Sri Aandal’s Tiruppavai, Thondaradippodi Azhwaar’s Tirumalai, Srimad Bhagavad Gita and life histories of recent as well as historic Indian Saints like Kanchi Maha Periyava,  Mira, Panduranga Bhaktas, Thiyagaraja, Purandaradasa, Bhagavannama Bodendra (Bhakta Vijayam) as also Guru Prabhava, Nama Mahimai, Kshetra Mahatmyam etc.  In addition, she has dealt on a number of contemporary topics related to spirituality like ‘Universal aspects of Indian Spirituality’, ‘Bhakti in Modern Times’, ‘Happiness is within’, ‘Liberation in Kali Yuga’ and so on.  She also provides counseling for school children towards inculcating the spiritual values among the modern generation youth.

She is fluent in Srimad Bhagavata parayanam and Srimad Ramayana Moola Parayana. (Reading the original Holy Text). 

 Sow Poornima is adept in discoursing in Tamil, Hindi and English.  In addition to traveling throughout India, she has undertaken tours across the globe and discoursed in countries like Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
