Brahmotsavam
Daily Morning Events

The familiar notes of "Kowsalya Supraja Rama..." heralds the start of a new day in the utsavam. Sri Swamigal performs Probhodanam to the LORD, with the devotees singing Sri Thondaradipodi Alwar's "Thirupalli Yezhichchi" and Sri Andal's "Thiruppavai".

The "Go Pooja" (Worship of Cow) follows...

It is a beautiful sight to see Surabhi (the Calf) and her mother standing majestically in the Central Prayer Hall, with Sri Swamigal doing the pooja accompanied by Vedic Chanting. The pooja culminates with Sri Swamigal feeding the cows.

Then the Lord is ready for his morning tour of Madhurapuri!!!

In an ornate palaquin, with his consort Sri Madhuri Saki, our Lord Sri Premika Varadan starts on his morning tour to shower grace on all his devotees. His devotees in turn pamper him with all the luxuries due to a King - the royal Umbrella, Peacock Fan and the Silver Umbrella.

It is Nama Sankirthanam all the way...

With Sri Swamigal leading the procession, the Naama Sankirtanam typically starts with the traditional 'Thodaya Mangalam'.

The Ashram's surrounding is punctuated with breathtaking landscapes, with lush greenery and cool air all around. This, coupled with the Bhajans in open air is altogether a different experience.

Then Sri Premika Varadan and Madhuri Saki return to hear Bhaghavatha Parayanam (done as "Sapthaham").

Devotees join with Sri Swamigal in the Bhagavatha Sapthaham, and the Parayanam typically extends till Noon.

In the midst of Parayanam, Sri Swamigal performs Thirumanjanam to the Lord...

This is followed by Archanam...

The Morning session concludes with the Thirtha prasadam by Sri Swamigal and devotees proceed to partake the Anna prasadam.
