Brahmotsavam
Day 9: Jaanavaasam

Jaanavaasam

This day was the evening before the divine wedding. In line with the tradition there was a "Maapillai Azhaippu" (lit. Inviting the Groom). Sri Premika Varadan in a small Palanquin was taken out of Madhurapuri and when he returned, Sri Madhuri Saki seated on a similar Palanquin was waiting in the Entrance of the Hall. The divine couple saw each other for some time...

Both entered the Hall and with the notes flowing out from the Nadaswaram, Sri Swamigal exchanged the garlands of Madhuri Saki and Premika Varadan.

Then, the divine couple were seated on the Swing, with Bhagavathars singing the traditional marriage songs.

After this visual and aural treat, it was time for an sumptuous prasadam!!

After prasadam, the Divya Nama started and went on till 4 AM. The Lord was given a brief rest after Dolotsavam...
