Judaism and Jews (2) So far, the Tamizh magazine ‘Madhuramurali’ of our Mission has carried several unique features of our Sanatana Dharma as also the essence of the Vedas and the Hindu Epics. Sri Sri Swamiji desires that we throw light on other ancient religions and cultures of the world as well, in Madhuramurali. Accordingly, Dr. A. Bagyanathan has been discussing about Judaism. The core religious text of Judaism is Torah. At first it was not in script form. Oral Torah is based on the doctrines instructed by God to Moses on Mount Sinai. It was only later that the script form of Torah came into existence. Since Torah, like our Vedas, was learnt only by word of mouth (as ‘sutraas’) and was not in script form many scholars and Rabbis have given explanations and commentaries from various perspectives. There are notes, in some places, to say that the interpretation of one may contradict another’s. Though there are different perspectives majority of the people accept the 13 rules of Maimonides.
