Title: ‘Thandhadhu undhannai! Kondadhu en dhannai!”
Author: Sri Venkataraman

The Lord hides all his virtues and incarnates in this world and lives as one amongst us because of his grace on the innumerable jeevas of the world, . While incarnating so, He conceals His real identity by hiding Himself under Maya. Still, by His grace He reveals His identity to a selective few during His own period and bestows infinite bliss on them. One such incarnation of God was Kanchi Sri Maha Swami Sri Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati Swami. The book “Thandhadhu undhannai! Kondadhu en dhannai” contains the divine plays of Sri Maha Swami in the life of Pradosham Sri Venkataraman fondly called as ‘‘Pradosham mama” and who was called as the sixty fourth Nayanmar (There are 63 nayanmars- Lord’s devotees who sang hymns in praise of Lord Shiva).

In Thiruvasagam, Manickavasagar summoned Lord Shiva and said, “You gave yourself unto me and accepted me in turn. I attained bliss by attaining you. But lo! You were not benefited by me.” Thus he sings. A similar incident took place in the life of Sri Pradosham mama. As usual Sri Mama slept in the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Maha Swami. He did not sleep well that night. He was yeaning for Sri Maha Periyava’s Viswarupa darsan in the early morning. He got Viswarupa darsan at 4.00 am. Then Sri Maha Swami smilingly said to Pradosham mama, “Thandhadhu un dhannai! Kondadhu en dhannai!” (“You gave yourself unto me and took me unto you!”) Needless to describe the fortune of such a person to whom Sri Maha Swami said so even once. But Sri Maha Swami chanted these words as if ‘mantra chanting’ from 4.00 am till 6.30am and Sri Pradosham mama repeated.” Sri Maha Swami bestowed Sri Pradosham mama with a blissful experience that is equivalent to Lord Shiva’s divine play with Sri Manickavasagar.
