The Master's Mantra
Sri Sri Swamiji -
When one needs to get into the waters, he should have known to swim. However, swimming has to be learnt by getting into the water. The imprints of lust anger and fear are destroyed only by Bhakti. But in order to acquire Bhakti, one should try to stay away from lust anger and fear.

The Translation:
Pallavi
Ah! (the Lord of Tirupathi) is coming in procession!
the Beloved of (Goddess) Padmavathi is coming in procession!
Charanams
Oh, there comes the Lord in procession ---
stately swinging about
accompanied by the chanting of the Vedas and recital of Music!
enquiring about the welfare (of all)
listening to the chanting of the Divine name!
(each day) riding on the elephant, the horse, the Divine Eagle
amidst joyous celebration of music and dance!
granting the boons sought
with boundless joy!
encircled by the divinities from heaven, and
worshipped by the devotees on earth!
the consort of the goddess of wealth
in gaits of the elephant and the lion
on the chariot flying the Divine Eagle flag
in order to protect His devotees!
in the holy month of 'kanya'
surrounded by waves of devotees!
bathed and adorning the yellow silk robe
giving refuge - 'oh, fear not! fear not!'
the ancient, the very embodiment of Vedas
(comes in procession) for the sake of the servant
Muralidhara!

The Paduka
Sriman Nigamãntha Desikan, a great Vaishnava Saint lived from
mid-thirteenth to mid-fourteenth century- 1268-1369. Of the innumerable
'Granthas' (texts) written by Him
the highly revered and considered as the most extraordinary piece is His
"Pãduka Sahasram" - a thousand verses on the 'Pãduka' of Lord Ranganãtha.
The Saint has in all composed 1008 verses, the last eight apologizing
in all humility for daring to compose these 1000 verses on the Pãduka!
Sri Desikan's contemporary Sri Appayya Dikshitar had written a
commentary on the "Pãduka Sahasram" but unfortunately it has been lost.
Avadheerita Sãdhu padhateenãm
alasãnãm madhuvairi Pãduke dve!

Oh! Twin-Paduke!
You two together guiding us
appears to illustrate to us,
who have
forsaken the ways of Sadhus and are also lazy,
the need for both
Divine Grace and human effort!
