Swamigal Speaks

<Prev |  Next>

It is said that the consequences of the meritorious and sinful acts performed is undergone in heaven and hell, respectively. While it is so how can there be any karma left for us to take birth on the earth to live through it?

Sri Sri Swamiji:

A man who takes his family on a pleasure tour keeps aside some cash for the return journey, lest all should get spent. Likewise, we are not permitted to enjoy or suffer (in heaven and hell) all the consequences of our meritorious or sinful acts. A little of it is left aside in both for us to come down to the earth to enjoy/suffer them

Is it possible to transfer the sins of a person to another person or animal?

Sri Sri Swamiji:

I have heard it said that this can be done through Tantra Shaastra. But it is a very dangerous method.

People speak of Bhakti and Jnana as being different. Is it so?

Sri Sri Swamiji:

As the first step in earning Bhakti one should listen to stories (of the Lord), sing the Lord’s praises, do japa, serve the Guru, serve the Lord, visit Holy Places, bathe in Holy Rivers, etc. Through these one makes progress in Bhkati. As a result one would experience horripilation, have divine visions externally, tears of joy would trickle down and one has the external vision of the Lord. But one should go further. Divine visions should be experienced internally. Then comes the state of Samadhi. However, to move in and out of Samadhi is not a high state. One should always be in the experience of deep Samadhi state and at the same time be able to move normally in the world. This is verily the state of sahaja Samadhi. This is the Bhakti that is experienced in the highest state (‘turiya’). Thus, the end goal of both Bhakti and Jnana is one and the same.

Why is the milk of the cow that is wholly black in colour (known as ‘kaaraam pasu’ in Tamzih) considered special for puja?

Sri Sri Swamiji:

The Shaastraas speak of innumerable matters that are beyond the comprehension of our intellect. Science may, infuture, explain them. The Shaastraas speak of the specialty of the milk of cows of different colours.
