Ãmbur Nagara Sankirtan - A report Sri Sri Swamiji's Jayanthi was celebrated by "Ãmbur Ãnmiiga Peravai" of Ãmbur in Srinivãsa Perumãl Temple in a very grand manner.
Morning Tirumanjanam was performed to Srinivãsa Perumãl. Even since morning, the melody of the Maha Mantra Kirtan filled the air. All the devotees of Ãmbur participated in Maha Mantra chanting. Afternoon A stumptuous luncheon was fed to more than 3000 people in the city. Evening 5:00 pm In the presence of Sri Sri Swamiji, the melodious kirtan of the Maha Mantra
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare started. The procession began - A procession of Nãma! And a whole bunch of Ãmbur devotees joined in. In no time, more than a 1000 people joined in the 'Nagara Sankirtan' and the whole atmosphere reverberated with the echo of the divine Maha Mantra. The 'Nagara Sankirtan' proceeded through all the main cities in the town. It was like a never-ending flood of devotees, as far as one's eyes could see, headed by Sri Sri Swamiji, and each one of them enthusiastically chanting the Maha Mantra.
In the course of the procession, pedestals were arranged at a few places, where Sri Sri Swamiji ascended and graced the sea of humanity, who were piously doing just what our Swamiji wants us to do - perform Nãma Kirtan! The devotees expressed their love for Sri Sri Swamiji by presenting Him with huge garlands of different flowers, floral crowns, different kinds of fruits and spices. At one point, it almost looked like Sri Sri Swamiji was hidden inside the huge garland of flowers He was presented!
The 'Nagara Sankirtan' reached a crescendo when the procession reached back the temple, where many young men continued to sing the Maha Mantra going around Sri Sri Swamiji and a cute Krishna that He carried in His arms, in a circle.
The procession lasted
throughout the evening, and after about 2 hours since the procession had started, Sri Sri Swamiji rendered a discourse.
He added that he had not been happier in his life than today, witnessing the enthusiasm and vibe of the villagers in the 'Nagara Sankirtan' and concluded that such 'Nagara Sankirtans' should be conducted at all other places throughout Tamizh Nãdu and all over the world so that Nãma reaches all the people irrespective of caste and creed.
Radhe Krishna |
