Chaitanya Mahãprabhu (69) After passifying Mukunda Dutt, Mahaprabhu reached Gadhãdhar's place. Gadhãdhar, being a noble Bhãgavatha, was surprised and tensed by Mahaprabhu's arrival at such an odd hour. He immediately offered a seat to Prabhu and prostrated to him. He was terrified at the state of Prabhu. Prabhu seemed more profound, filled with emotions of dispassion, woe and renunciation. He told Gadhãdhar, "Gadhãdhar! I am here to tell you a painful news. I hope you will not mistake me!" Gadhãdhar was perplexed and remained silent. He continued, " I am going far away from you. I am relinquishing the worldly life to embrace austerity." Transfixed, Gadhãdhar was not able to respond. His body leaned on the wall like a lifeless log of wood. Soon, his head was touching Prabhu's feet, wetting them with his tears. The warmth of his tears made the tender lotus-like feet of Prabhu shiver. Grabbing his head and placing them gently on his lap, wiping his tears, Prabhu said, "If you lose your courage, how will I fulfill my Dharma? I cannot stand the sight of your weeping. I have taken this decision just to make the world realize true love and devotion. How will I fulfill that ideal, if you stand obstacle to that determination of mine? I don't want to have such a happiness at the behest of your sorrow. Why don't you talk?" Gadhãdhar replied, "Prabhu what shall I say! I don't have any wish over and above yours. You are an unbound person!" Prabhu instantly replied, "Then express your consent wholeheartedly!" Gadhãdhar weeped loudly and Prabhu could'nt control his cry either, making the situation pitiful. Gadhãdhar wept unbearably in the love-filled embrace of Prabhu. Wiping his tears with his clothes, Prabhu gently said, "Gadhãdhar! I will never separate from you. I shall take you along wherever I go. Don't lose heart. I would not prefer even Vaikunta in your absence. Calm down! The Lord will always do good." Holding his hand, Prabhu left for Srivãs Pandit's house. To be continued...
