JULY 2006 - GURU POORNIMA SPECIAL ISSUE

Sri Sri Swamiji
The Lord incarnated as Sage Vyãsa to teach the world. Vyãsa rightfully holds the seat of Guru. Was He not verily the one who grouped the Vedas, authored the various Epics, particularly the Bhakti Granta of Srimad Bhãgavatam detailing the dispositions of Bhagavãn and the deep devotion of Bhaktãs? The full moon ('poornima') of the 'ãshãda' month was the day whence Vyãsa was born.
Therefore, this particular Poornima is called Vyãsa Poornima or Guru Poornima. -- Sri Sri Swamiji

Of what use are a beautiful body, a beautiful wife, high fame and wealth of the size of the Meru Mountain if the mind does not surrender at the Lotus Feet of the Guru?

    Script from the Scriptures (65)

We are of no use to the Guru. Only the Guru is of great use to us. It is not only that we are of no use to the Guru but we also prove a block to him! There is absolutely no use if one does not take refuge in a Guru. Well! You may not surrender to the Guru but it is enough if you become a vessel for his blessing! He tries to bring about a link with you through some means - accepts the garland or some fruits or anything else that you offer Him. He makes you serve Him in some way. What is the reason behind this?
'Krupa' - Grace! The Guru does not forsake any 'jiva' !
