The Master's Mantra

Sri Sri Swamiji -

  • A few often make resolutions. However, they don't remain resolute and let go of them. Such act of taking up resolutions and letting go of them only goes to show their fickle mind.

Pasyata Rãdhãm...

Raga: Durbãr
Tala: Chãpu

Sri Swamiji's Song:

Pallavi

pasyata Rãdhãm pannaga dheergavenneem!
pasyata Krishnam dheergavennidharam!                      (pasyata)

Charanams

pasyata Rãdhãm nikunja nivãsineem!
pasyata Krishnam kunjamãlãdharam!                      (pasyata)

Rãdhãm sakhiijana lãlitãm!
pasyata Krishnam Suka Muni pujitam!                      (pasyata)

pasyata Rãdhãm gowravarneem!
pasyata Krishnam shyãmalavarnam!                      (pasyata)

pasyata Rãdhãm trilokya poojitãm!
pasyata Krishnam tribangiroopam!                      (pasyata)

pasyata Rãdhãm premaswaroopinneem!
pasyata Krishnam karunãswaroopam!                      (pasyata)

The Translation:

Pallavi

Oh! look at Radha! (the one) with serpent-like long hair!
Oh! look at Krishna! (the one) with long flute!

Charanams

Oh! look at Radha! (the one) who lives in 'nikunja'
Oh! look at Krishna! (the one) adorning the 'kundumani' garland!

Oh! look at Radha! (the one) caressed by friends!
Oh! look at Krishna (the one) worshipped by Suka Muni!

Oh! look at Radha! (the one) of fair complexion!
Oh! look at Krishna! (the one) of dark complexion!

Oh! look at Radha! (the one) worshipped by the three worlds!
Oh! look at Krishna! (the one) wearing an enchanting form with three bends!

Oh! look at Radha! the embodiment of Love!
Oh! look at Krishna! the embodiment of Compassion!

The Paduka

Sri Sri Swamiji's Paduka

Sriman Nigamãntha Desikan, a great Vaishnava Saint lived from mid-thirteenth to mid-fourteenth century- 1268-1369. Of the innumerable 'Granthas' (texts) written by Him the highly revered and considered as the most extraordinary piece is His "Pãduka Sahasram" - a thousand verses on the 'Pãduka' of Lord Ranganãtha. The Saint has in all composed 1008 verses, the last eight apologizing in all humility for daring to compose these 1000 verses on the Pãduka!

Sri Desikan's contemporary Sri Appayya Dikshitar had written a commentary on the "Pãduka Sahasram" but unfortunately it has been lost.

Avyãhatãm Raghupateh vahatah pratijnãm
amsãdhirohannarase vihate dharannyãh |
prãdãnnivritya bhavatii Mannipãdrakshe!
sparsham padena vigata vyavadhãnakhedam || (125)

Pãduke!
   Mother Earth (the kingdom)
yearned to sit on Rama's shoulder
   and Bharata, too, strived to
   place Her on Rama's shoulder
   as,
both did not come to pass
   You, Oh Paduke!
   returned to Ayodhya
   thus withdrawing Your obstruction
   and
   granting direct contact of
   the Divine Lotus Feet
   to Earth!

“ Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare!
