'Madhuramãna Mahaneeyar'

(Tamizh Madhuramurali December, 2005)

Once, Sri Sri Swamiji, while talking about Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, remarked that Sri Ramakrishna would not partake food given by all and sundry because it would affect his health badly; hence, he was very careful while accepting food from others. Sri Sri Swamiji further said that the food we eat should, therefore, be offered to the Lord before we partake of it and that even if we offer it mentally it would be cleansed of all impurities.

A devotee asked, " How is that some Mahãns eat whatever is offered to them by any and everyone?" Sri Sri Swamiji explained, "When we offer something to the Lord we chant Mantras to purify the food. But, love possesses more power than these Mantras. (Bring the next line here in continuance) That is why much importance is not given to Mantras in 'Prema-Puja' (puja done with devotion and love). Similarly, if someone gives(reduce gap) you food with love, the very love destroys all the evil in the food. Dry hearts which know nothing about love cannot comprehend this."
