Chaitanya Mahãprabhu (64) Suklãmbar Brahmachãri was a very close devotee of Prabhu. He always had a feeling that Mahãprabhu did not shower enough grace on him. Realizing this, Mahãprabhu once told him, "Brahmachãriji! Nityãnand and I are coming to your house tomorrow for lunch. Prepare food for us!" While on the one hand Suklãmbar was happy about Prabhu lunching at his place on the other hand he became anxious because being a 'Bhikshu' (a person who goes about begging for food) himself he wondered how he would be able to prepare proper meal for Prabhu. When he sought the advice of other devotees, they consoled and encouraged him with the words that love was above all rules and regulations and that Prabhu would partake of anything offered with love. Prabhu affirmed that he would come to Suklãmbar's home for lunch and in the event of him not preparing anything he would steal the latter's food! The next day, Suklãmbar, with all love and devotion, prepared food as best as he could. Nityãnand and Mahãprabhu, after bathing in the Ganges arrived at Suklãmbar's residence for food. They relished each and every dish that Suklãmbar had prepared. Then, they washed their hands and feet with the water offered by Suklãmbar. Suklãmbar's home was on the banks of the Ganges. Enjoying the cool breeze blowing across the Ganges, they lay down on a cot, on the open terrace of the house. With them was another devotee, Vijay Ãhiriya. He earned his living by hand-scripting the Grantãs. His writing was beautiful. In days yonder, there was no printing press. Hand-scripting was the only way to make copies. Vijay Ãhiriya had, in this way, taken copies of numerous books for Prabhu. Vijay Ãhiriya who was sleeping next to Prabhu had a divine dream. He saw a divinely beautiful hand, holding some divine 'mudra' (symbol). Precious gems decorated the fingers. Vijay sat up at once and looked around him.. The vision still persisted. The vision of the divine hand drove him crazy. Prabhu smilingly asked, "What is it Vijay! What is the matter? You are looking around as if witnessing a wonder! Suklãmbar is a great Bhakta. Lord Krishna is always present here. It looks like you had a darshan of Krishna himself!" Vijay did not reply. He had no awareness of his body. Hearing Prabhu speak he laughed like a madman. He cried and wept. Nityãnand and Brahmachãri understood that this was the special grace that Prabhu was showering on Vijay. This state persisted for seven days. He shared his experiences with Prabhu's close devotees. There was a tailor next to Srivãs Pundit's house. Listening to the Kirtan daily, he developed intense love and devotion for Prabhu. He would lovingly prostrate to Prabhu whenever he came. One day, Prabhu showed him his Divine Form ('Divya roopa darshan'). Having had such a darshan, the Muslim tailor, for a long time, kept roaming in the market shouting "I have seen!, "I have seen!" Thus, Prabhu entranced his close devotees with such numerous divine plays. To be continued...
