'Madhuramãna Mahaneeyar' Sri Sri Swamiji, during the course of His discourse one day, in the Satsang, on Bhagavãn Sri Ramakrishna, said that He (Sri Ramakrishna) was the Avatar (Incarnation) of Lord Vishnu and that it was the One who had incarnated as Rama and later as Krishna had then incarnated as Sri Ramakrishna. A man asked Sri Sri Swamiji, "You just said that Sri Ramakrishna was the Avatar of Lord Vishnu. Likewise, it is said that Tiruvaiyãru Sri Thiagaraja swami is said to be the Avatar of Vãlmiki and Purandaradãsa the Avatar of Sage Nãrada. Thus, we speak of all the great Bhaktãs who came into the world as the Avatar of some god or some Maharshi. This has created two doubts in my mind. Firstly, 'is it possible for ordinary mortals like me to attain such 'anubhooti' (state) or experience their high state of Jnãna?' Secondly, 'when they are Bhagavãn (Himself incarnated) why should they weep for Bhagavãn?' Sri Sri Swamiji explained, "Even little children watch the television programmes for long hours and enjoy film songs. They also sing these songs. Likewise, they enjoy and play sports. The same children cannot be coaxed into participating in Bhajan or listening to the Lord's stories, even for a few minutes. What is the reason for this? Just as the oil lamp burns upwards and water runs down towards low ground, so too, it is nature of the human mind to move towards worldly matters.
All nurture the desire to see God directly. But, none yearns or sheds tears for God. Sometimes, sitting in front of the Lord (picture/or in Temple) we shed tears. Do you know the reason behind this? These tears are shed only out of self-pity due to our (worldly) sufferings and helplessness and not due to the desire to attain God. It is possible to stand, sit or clap our hands whenever we desire to do so. But, we cannot shed tears just on deciding to do so. Is it possible to forcibly shed tears? Well! One cannot see God without weeping for Him. But the human mind does not weep for God. How then can we earn such longing and weep for God? If we attain the association of one who has such deep craving and weeps for God we will also experience the same. Therefore, it is for this reason that God appears in the world (in human form) and craves and weeps for God; and through His 'sanga' (association) He bestows such craving on those who come in contact with Him. Since the human mind is incapable of yearning for God, the Lord incarnates on earth and weeps for God and creates such craving (for God) in the human mind. Hence, God incarnates Himself and He weeps for God."
