Title: "Nãn kanda Siddargal" ( 'The Siddhas I have met')
Author: Pon. Paramaguru
Publishers: Vãnathi Publishers, Chennai.

Recently, I had been to a book exhibition where I saw a book "Nãn kanda Siddargal" written by Pon. Paramaguru. This book is a publication of Vãnathi Publishers in Chennai. I had heard that Pon. Paramaguru had contacts with many Mahãtmas and that his father lived with a Mahãtma and served him and by the grace of this Mahãtma, his father became a Siddha purusha too. So I was tempted to buy the book. When I took the book and glanced through it, a few lines caught my eyes….

The lines read as follows: "  'In India, there is a Jnãni (realized one) per every crore of population. Today, more than half of the 60 Jnãnis, live in South India. Mere darshan of these Jnãnis will reduce our sins and increase our 'punya' (merits).' Saying so, Tapovanam Sri Jnãnãnanda Swamigal made me have a darshan of many such people…"

These lines aroused my curiosity to read the book further. Every reader of this book will realize that 'Jnãna' (realization) is not specific to any particular religion or language or country or species and that Jnãna is not at all related to education or bookish knowledge.

The author's daughter, Meena, suffered from severe typhoid. The author whole heartedly prayed to the Mahãtma Bahadurvaliba. The next day the Muslim Sãdhu came to his house asking, "Your daughter is not feeling well. Is she?" Inspite of the severe typhoid fever, the Mahãtma took them to a place called Kuttangiri which is next to Chickmagloor near Bangalore.

In this place is a waterfall by name 'Ãkash Ganga' whose water was as cold as ice. He asked the girl with typhoid to take bath in that falls. She did so and that very night she was completely cured. After returning to Chennai, the doctors were surprised as to what cured her. It was interesting that the author replied that it was because of divine grace. Though this incident, from one perspective, shows the greatness of that Mahãtma, from another, it shows the deep faith of the editor in Mahãtmas and their divine grace that emboldened him to do such a thing.

It is amazing to note the simple life style of Arohara Swamigal and the way he cured incurable diseases with 'vibuthi' (holy ash).

In this book, the editor speaks about many other Siddha Purushas and Mahãtmas and their divine grace.
