Swamigal Speaks

The deities in some temples are said to be of ferocious nature ('ugraha'). How do we placate the 'ugraha' of that Deity?

Sri Sri Swamiji:

By offering 'pãnaka' (water mixed with jaggery and dry ginger), buttermilk and different kinds of fruit juices to the Deity, its 'ugraha' can be brought down and the Deity would become calm.

Whose sacrifice is greater -- Rãma's or Bharata's?

Sri Sri Swamiji:

This very question was placed before Yogi Rãmsuratkumãr by a devotee. I give here the reply given by Yogi Rãmsuratkumãr. He said, "Rãma's sacrifice is certainly greater because the very thought of sacrificing was born in Bharata only by seeing Rãma ('s sacrifice).

Does one attain peace in dhyãna? Or does it increase the mental strength?

Sri Sri Swamiji:

'Shakti' (power) is born out of 'Shãnti' (peace). Our mental strength is wasted due to our skeptical nature, mental contradictions, lustful thoughts and several other mental problems. When our mind catches hold of a God or a Nãma (Name of the Lord), the mental strength is protected without being wasted. Therefore, through dhyãna not only 'shãnti' but also great 'shakti' is born.
