Is it true that different techniques are prescribed in the Mantra Shãstrãs to cure diseases?

Yes. Different techniques are suggested.

Can all kinds of diseases be cured with Mantrãs?

Sri Sri Swamiji:

Diseases can be classified into three:
“Sãdhya” - those diseases that can be completely cured using Mantrãs;
“Asãdhya” - those that cannot be cured with any atonement;
“Yãbhya” - those that can be controlled to some extent by mantras, but cannot be completely cured.
Accordingly, the Mantra based atonement has to be performed. This is verily described in the Mantra Shãstrãs.

What should one do in honor of a Guru who imparts knowledge?

Sri Sri Swamiji:

In return to the knowledge imparted, one should perform service to the Guru. If not, one should give large sums of money and acquire knowledge. Otherwise, acquiring one kind of knowledge, one should impart another kind of knowledge in return. This is prescribed in the Shãstrãs.
