The Translation:

Pallavi

Oh! Mind!
It is the nature of Man
To seek company
Whose company do you seek? Oh! Mind!

Charanams

If you desire the company of a beautiful child
Associate yourself with the wonderful child of Gokula!

If you desire fun and sport
Associate yourself with the Lord of Brindavan!

If you desire the company of a handsome man
Associate yourself with the Beloved of Radha!

If your desire the company of scholars
Associate yourself with the disciple of Sandeepani!

If you desire the company of the King of Kings
Associate yourself with the King of Dwaraka!

If you desire the company of the Valiant
Associate yourself with the charioteer of Pãrtha (Arjuna)!

If you desire the company of the Lord of wealth
Associate yourself with the Lord of Shree (Lakshmi)!

If you desire the company of a lady with a bewitching form
Associate yourself with the lady who duped the Asurãs!

If you desire Satsang (Company of Saints!)
Associate yourself with the One who dwells within you!

If you desire the company of Premikas(the Loving ones)
Associate yourself with Muralidhara!

The Paduka

Sri Swamigal's Paduka

Sriman Nigamãntha Desikan, a great Vaishnava Saint lived from mid-thirteenth to mid-fourteenth century- 1268-1369. Of the innumerable 'Granthas' (texts) written by Him the highly revered and considered as the most extraordinary piece is His "Pãduka Sahasram" - a thousand verses on the 'Pãduka' of Lord Ranganãtha. The Saint has in all composed 1008 verses, the last eight apologizing in all humility for daring to compose these 1000 verses on the Pãduka!

Sri Desikan's contemporary Sri Appayya Dikshitar had written a commentary on the "Pãduka Sahasram" but unfortunately it has been lost.

Soureh shuddhãnta nareennãm vihãramanni darpannam |
prasatteriva samsthãnam padatrãnnam upãsmahe || (711)

Meditate do we on that Pãduka!
   - who
   serves as a mirror
   to the Divine Consorts
   who look in 'It'
   in a playful fashion
   - who appears
   to be the very
Form of the Grace and clarity of the Lord!

“ Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare!
