I see true Bhakti in a person. At the same time, I see that he is also involved in certain undesirable acts. Can it be inferred that his Bhakti is not true? Sri Sri Swamiji: You yourself say that he has true Bhakti. One cannot call his Bhakti false. His Bhakti is in a subdued state. When it manifests itself, all the ills will be automatically removed. I am performing pooja to an idol of Rãma at home. Is the idol pleased because I am performing pooja to it? Sri Sri Swamiji: Just like the deity to which we perform pooja possesses limbs and head, it also has a heart. If we perform pooja with devotion and sincerity, the deity would definitely be pleased. What are 'Yama' and 'Niyama'? Sri Sri Swamiji: Truth, non-violence, celibacy, chivalry, modesty, mental control, not getting anything from anyone, abstaining from theft, a spiritual mind, learning Shãstras, patience – these are 'yama' and 'niyama' The mind gets automatically controlled in the presence of a Jnãni. Similarly, what would one experience in a Bhakta’s presence? Sri Sri Swamiji: Just like the mind is controlled in a Jnãni’s presence, in the presence of a Bhakta, one would automatically experience the divine qualities of devotion like hair raising, trembling, tears flowing from the eyes etc. Can you suggest an easy way to perform Dhyãna (meditation) ? Sri Sri Swamiji: Dhyãna (meditation) is the seventh step in Ashtãnga yoga (the eight steps to liberation as prescribed by the Yoga philosophy). A lot of us try to practice dhyãna, ignoring the other steps. That is why it is not easily attainable
