The Master's Mantra
Sri Swamiji -
"Some, just by the virtue of coming from a lineage subscribing to the Sri Sankara's philosophy, claim that Advaita (Monism) is correct. Some, just because they are born in a Sri Vaishnava family claim that only Vishistadvaitham (qualified Monism) is true. Some others hailing from a Madhva family maintain that Dwaitham (Dualism) is correct. I don't know which is true. But all I know is that 'Nãma sankirtanam' (singing Lord's names) is the correct path for all."

Sri Swamiji's Song:
Pallavi
Pandari sendridivom vãreer
Pãnduranganai darisanam seiyya
Anupallavi
Chandrabãgaiyil snãnam seidu
Sãdukalai sevitthidalãm
(Pandari sendridivom vãreer...)
Charanam
Rukminiyin sannidhiyil sada
RamaKrishnaHari endrey pãdidalãm
Mukthiyum peridalla idhaivida
Muralidaran solvadhu nichchayam
(Pandari sendridivom vãreer...)
|
The Translation:
Pallavi
Come! Let us march together to Pandari
To see our beloved Lord Pãnduranga!
Anupallavi
Taking a dip in the Holy river Chandrabãga
We can prostrate at the Holy feet of the Sãdhus!
Charanam
In the divine presence of Sri Rukmini
We can chant 'RãmaKrishnaHari'!
Even Liberation is not greater than this!
What Muralidhara says is indeed certain!

The Paduka
Sriman Nigamantha Desikan, a great Vaishnava Saint lived from
mid-thirteenth to mid-fourteenth century- 1268-1369. Of the innumerable
'Granthas' (texts) written by Him
the highly revered and considered as the most extraordinary piece is His
"Paduka Sahasram" - a thousand verses on the 'Paduka' of Lord Ranganatha.
The Saint has in all composed 1008 verses, the last eight apologizing
in all humility for daring to compose these 1000 verses on the Paduka!
Sri Desikan's contemporary Sri Appayya Dikshitar had written a
commentary on the "Paduka Sahasram" but unfortunately it has been lost.
Pratyãgate vijayini prathame Raghunãm
Vinyasyati tvayi padam manipãdarakshe! |
Ratnougha bimbita nishãcharavãnarãm tvãm
Poorvakshanasthãm iva pushpakam anvapasyan || (722)
Oh! ManiPãduke!
(Lord)Raghu on His victorious return
from the forest
places His Divine Feet on You!
the Rãkshasãs and the Vãnarãs
standing around are found
reflected on your gems
just as they were in the Pushpaka Vimãna!
thus, people could witness the pushpaka-vimãna scene
You seemed verily the pushpaka-vimãna!
(bearing the Lord and the others)
