Swamigal Speaks

<Prev |  Next>

It has been predicted by Mahãns like Swãmi Vivekãnanda, Arabindo, Rãmateertha, etc. that India would reach great heights in spiritual path and guide the world. When would this happen?

Sri Sri Swamiji:

Bhagavãn Sri Yogi Rãmsuratkumãr has also, time and again, opined so. Moreover, he has also said that from the year 2020 onwards such a change would take place, gradually.

I wish to take up some 'vrat' (vow) in my life. Which one should I take up?

Sri Sri Swamiji:

Priyavrat is the name of a king in Bhãgavatham. Do you know why he has this name? He had the 'vrat' (vow) to exhibit only love towards all living beings. Hence, he has this name. What other 'vrat' (vow) can be greater than the one to exhibit love towards all living beings?

It is said that Jivan Muktãs do not have any Will ('sankalpa') of their own. But, at the same time, it is also said that even worldly prayers made in their presence get fulfilled. How do they get fulfilled?

Sri Sri Swamiji:

All 'devatãs' always reside around the Jivan Mukta. They wish to serve that Jnãni, a Jivan Mukta, in some way or the other. The prayers of the devotees are fulfilled by these 'devatãs'.

We take refuge in a Sadguru to attain mental peace. But, contrary to our expectations, it appears that after taking refuge in him even the little peace that the mind had until then been enjoying is lost and it is disturbed!

Sri Sri Swamiji:

We suffer due to pain experienced as a result of some disease in our body. We approach a good doctor to be relieved of this pain. Does he not, at first, cause in us the pain of surgery before giving us the relief from the pain of the disease? Likewise, as soon as we take refuge in a Guru, our 'I' (ego) and 'mine' instead of subduing, rises up multifold. Hence, it appears as if the mental peace has been lost. But, it is certain that finally absolute and eternal peace will be attained.
