The Master's Mantra
Sri Sri Swamiji -
We are not able to realize God even though he is so close to us. Two people are close to each other, but if a screen seperates them, is it not true that they will not be able to see each other? Similarly, feeling proud of family glory, position, status, wealth, family, knowledge etc act as a veil between us and God. If we stop feeling proud about all these and surrender to God considering ourselves as low beings in all respects, we will easily be able to see Him.

The Translation:
Pallavi
Panduranga (the Lord!) ordered
Me to come to Pandari (pura)!
Anupallavi
The whole world forgotten
rushed I to Pandari (pura)!
Bathing in Chandrabhãga
Familiar (not new) felt I of Pandari!
Charanams
Listened I to Nãmasankirtan of the Sadhus!
Realised I of Sadguru’s Grace!
Begged I of Bhakti from Panduranga!
“The very Dust of Pandari shall bestow bhakti!”
said Panduranga!
know not why! But HE (Panduranga) sent me away from Pandari (Pura)!
But Panduranga remains imprinted in my Heart!

The Paduka
Sriman Nigamãntha Desikan, a great Vaishnava Saint lived from
mid-thirteenth to mid-fourteenth century- 1268-1369. Of the innumerable
'Granthas' (texts) written by Him
the highly revered and considered as the most extraordinary piece is His
"Pãduka Sahasram" - a thousand verses on the 'Pãduka' of Lord Ranganãtha.
The Saint has in all composed 1008 verses, the last eight apologizing
in all humility for daring to compose these 1000 verses on the Pãduka!
Sri Desikan's contemporary Sri Appayya Dikshitar had written a
commentary on the "Pãduka Sahasram" but unfortunately it has been lost.
Manimoullisatane bimbitena prannatãm paritah surãsurãnnãm |
Murabhin Manipãduke! Mahimnã yugapat teshu samarpiteva bhãsi || (714)
Pãduke!
when all the Devas and the Asuras
stand around You
bowing down,
Your image being reflected on all their crowns
all at the same time
makes them wonder
if it is due to Your glory that
You are thus placed on all their crowns!
