Why is it that Vyãsa has never mentioned the name of Radha anywhere in Srimad Bhãgavatam? Sri Sri Swamiji: It is possible to impart the knowledge of Ãtma swaroopa (the form of the 'Self') to one by saying "it is this, it is that". But it is very difficult to make one understand what love is. It cannot be said and understood with brain and mind. Pure love cannot be understood by vishayis( those who indulge in worldly pleasures). If he had mentioned the name of Radha, who is an embodiment of pure love, he would have established that it would be possible to verbally express pure love. That is the reason why Vyãsa has not mentioned the name of Radha in Srimad Bhãgavatam. What is the aim of bakthi (devotion)? Sri Sri Swamiji: The aim of Vedãnta is Ãtma Sãkshãtkãra (Self Realization). After attaining this state, one need not do Vedãnta vichãra. One cannot do it too. But bakthi does not have any end. That is the specialty of bakthi. Sri Thyãgarãja Swami, who is one among the great bakthas, himself, has mentioned in one of his kirtans, "I know not the path of bakthi". Many such bakthas have the same opinion. There is no limit for bakthi. Do Jivan Muktas do the pãrãyana (reading) of Bhãgavatam too? Sri Sri Swamiji: Srimad Bhãgavatam 'Bhakti Grantha' (an epic based on Bhakti). It is both the means and the end itself. Parikshit was a mumukshu (spiritual aspirant). Suka was a Jivan Mukta (liberated one). A Jivan Mukta like Suka preaches Bhãgavatam to a mumukshu like Parikshit. From this very fact, it is lucid that Srimad Bhãgavatam is the only way out (gati) for both Jivan Mukathas and mumukshus. Will reading the Shãstras (scriptures) clarify all the doubts in the mind? Sri Sri Swamiji: Reading Shãstras (scriptures) will clear the existing doubts but will give rise to new doubts. Only experience will put an end to all doubts. Shãstras (scriptures) only show the direction and can take us one only up to a point after which everything has to be understood only by experience.
