The Master's Mantra
Sri Swamiji -
"A person who works for a wealthy man is relaxed with the thought that the employer
would take care of all his needs, be it his daughter’s marriage or son’s education.
He enjoys a sense of security in the mere thought, “My master will take care of me!”
But what a pity indeed it is that we who have come to the omnipotent Sri Vasudeva do
not hold on to Him and lead a carefree life? "
Vazhga Vazhgave Vazhga Vazhgave...

Sri Swamiji's Song:
Vazhga Vazhgave Vazhga Vazhgave
Vazhga Vazhgave Kannan nãmame
Paramanin pugazh pannil pãduvom
Amarargal potrum Achyutan ivan
Vennai pãlaiyum thirudi undavan
Mannai alandavan vinnai Ãlbavan
Mazhalai pesiye thãyai mayanga cheybavan
Kuzhalai oodiye kuthoohalippavan
Bhaktargalai kãthida vandudhithavan
Muralidharan ivan mukthi alippavan.

The Translation:
Long Live Krishna’s Name! Long Live Krishna’s Name!
Let us all sing the glory of the Lord for
He is Achyuta
One praised by all the Devas!
One who stealthily ate butter and milk!
One who measured the Earth (by foot) !
One who rules the Heavens!
One who charmed His mother by his sweet baby talk!
One who enchanted everyone by playing his flute!
One who incarnated to protect his devotees!
He is Muralidhara - the bestower of liberation!

The Paduka
Sriman Nigamantha Desikan, a great Vaishnava Saint lived from
mid-thirteenth to mid-fourteenth century- 1268-1369. Of the innumerable
'Granthas' (texts) written by Him
the highly revered and considered as the most extraordinary piece is His
"Paduka Sahasram" - a thousand verses on the 'Paduka' of Lord Ranganatha.
The Saint has in all composed 1008 verses, the last eight apologizing
in all humility for daring to compose these 1000 verses on the Paduka!
Sri Desikan's contemporary Sri Appayya Dikshitar had written a
commentary on the "Paduka Sahasram" but unfortunately it has been lost.

Abhivaanchati sangamam paraagaih
Abhijaataistava devi! Naabhijaatah || (357)
Oh! Paaduka Devi!
On association with You
Even the lowest of lowly, deems
Himself to be of high pedigree!
Brahma
Albeit born off the navel (‘naabhi’ of Narayana)
And
Holding high office
Seeks high birth through
The touch of Your dust.
Oh! Devi Paduke!
It is only Your dust that can bestow high birth
And elevation that even the navel born Lord Brahma longs for!
