Madhuramãna Mahaneeyar! “Jnãniis have no mind. Nothing exists apart from them. While it is so, do they perform any special prayer when Bhaktãs (devotees) appeal to them? Or, do they resolve (‘sankalpa’—Will) something?”
This question was placed before our Sri Sri Swamiji.
“Kurram Subbarãmayya was a Bhakta of Bhagavãn Ramana. Once, his second child took seriously ill and the condition became precarious. The doctors gave up the case. At once, Kurram Subbarãmayya sent a telegram to Bhagavãn Ramana, explaining the condition of the child, along with a prayer to save the child. After around seven o’ clock in the evening there was steady progress in the child’s health and the child's life was saved. During his subsequent visit to the Aashram, Kurram Subbarãmayya, out of curiosity, asked the Aashramites at what time did Bhagavãn see the telegram that had been sent by him. He was told that it was at (sharp) 7 p.m. that Bhagavãn had seen the telegram. Subbarãmayya understood that it was only after this that there had been steady progress in the child’s health. He asked Bhagavãn Ramana, “Bhagavãn! What did you think on seeing the telegram?” Bhagavãn just said, “I read your telegram. I also noticed that the clock showed 7.00” Not stopping at that, the Bhakta questioned further, “Did you not think of doing something to save my child?” Bhagavãn Ramana informed, “To think of saving the child is also a ‘sankalpa’ (will/desire). A Jnãni has no ‘sankalpa’. In fact, there is no need to think on such lines. The moment the Jnãni’s ‘drushti’ (sight) falls on something, automatically the Divinity begins to act and leads to unparalleled welfare.” His Holiness Sri Sri Swamiji enlightened, “When a prayer reaches a Jnãni’s [a Jivan Mukta’s] ‘drushti’, even if he has no ‘sankalpa’, a Divine power takes care of the situation and does good. This is the truth.”
