The Master's Mantra
Sri Swamiji -
Though children’s minds are always turned towards entertainment they study their school lessons fearing the wrath of their parents. But, they enjoy its
fruits in future living a comfortable life. Likewise, all the good work that a person does to earn the affection of his Guru bestows good on him.

The Translation:
Pallavi
Oh! Lord of Ãndãl!
One who plays on the banks of Yamuna!
Am I really worthy of this abundant grace of Yours?
I have wasted time in sleeping and eating!
Not a single moment have I spent in Your service!
(Am I really worthy of this abundant grace of Yours?)
Charanam
Ignorant am I of devotion!
Incapable am I of performing austerities!
Neither have I cut asunder worldly bondages!
Dull headed am I!
(Am I really worthy of this abundant grace of Yours?)
Neither am I well versed in Vedas!
Nor have I bowed at Your lotus feet!
I have not performed any Sadhana!
Never have adhered to the words of a Sadhu!
(Am I really worthy of this abundant grace of Yours?)
I have not visited Your Holy places!
Neither I possess a mind devoid of filth!
Nor do I possess any virtue!
Oh! Lord! Madhava! Muralidhara!
(Am I really worthy of this abundant grace of Yours?)

The Paduka
Sriman Nigamantha Desikan, a great Vaishnava Saint lived from
mid-thirteenth to mid-fourteenth century- 1268-1369. Of the innumerable
'Granthas' (texts) written by Him
the highly revered and considered as the most extraordinary piece is His
"Paduka Sahasram" - a thousand verses on the 'Paduka' of Lord Ranganatha.
The Saint has in all composed 1008 verses, the last eight apologizing
in all humility for daring to compose these 1000 verses on the Paduka!
Sri Desikan's contemporary Sri Appayya Dikshitar had written a
commentary on the "Paduka Sahasram" but unfortunately it has been lost.

Oh! Pãduke!
To those who have surrendered unto You
You bestow the blue colour similar to the Lord’s
----with the radiance of Your sapphires!
Likewise,
To all those who shoot questions at You
You propagate the Upanishadic rule of ‘Tatkratu’
---- (a ‘jiva’ contemplating on the Brahman with certain traits becomes one with that attribute)
