The sons of Rishabha Yogi - Kavi, Hari, Anthariksha, Prabuddha, Pippalãyana, Ãvirhotra, Drumila, Chamsa and Karabhãjana (also called as Navayogis) - who were great devotees, at the sacrifice conducted by the King Nimi -

The king further asked, “Please be gracious to tell me the different forms, procedures and names of the Lord in various ages and the mode of worship performed by men in those ages.”

Karabhãjana replied, “The Supreme Lord is worshipped in different ways in ages of Krita, Treta, Dwapara and Kali.

In the Krita yuga the Lord is worshipped in the form of a Brahmacharin, fair in complexion, four armed, wearing matted lock, tree bark, antelope skin and sacred thread and holding beads, staff and water pot in His hands. In this age, men are serene in temperament and universal friendship and equality prevail. They adore the Lord by meditating accompanied by the practice of control of mind and senses. The Divine Names of the Lord in this age are Hamsa, Suparna, Vaikuntha, Dharma, Yogeshwara, Amala, Ishwara, Purusha, Avyakta and Paramatma.

In Treta yuga the Lord is worshipped as red-complexioned, golden haired, four-armed and wearing a girdle of three strands. Veda constitutes His form and He is worshipped holding in His hands the paraphernalia for vedic rituals like sacrificial ladles and utensils. The men of this age are given to righteous mode of living and are learned in Vedas, worship Sri Hari, who is the embodiment of all the Divinities, the eradicator of men’s miseries and the center of abundant brilliance, with the Yajnas described in the Vedas. He is extolled in that age with Name like Vishnu, Yajna, Prignigarbha, Sarvadeva, Urukrama, Vrishãkapi, Jayanta and Urugãya.
