Chaitanya Mahãprabhu (45) Prabhu was still angry with Madhayi. “Madhayi! I shall not forgive you! I never get angry with somebody who offends me. But you have indeed wounded Sripad! I will forgive you only if He forgives you. Take refuge in Him” said Prabhu. Soon, Madhayi, fell at Nityananda’s feet and cried bitterly. He felt ashamed of his behavior. He slapped his chest and lamented loudly. Can Nityananda bear to hear his wailing that was pathetic enough to melt even a stone. Mahaprabhu came near Nityananda and said,“Sripad! Madhayi has offended you. He is pleading forgiveness. I am not capable of forgiving him. You are the only one who can protect him”. Soon Nityananda said, “Do you see! Prabhu! This is how you thrust your fame on us! Why do you dump the fame and glory of elevating him on me? It is you who possess the power to purify the sinful ones. I do not possess even an iota of hatred towards Madhayi. If I have earned any merits in my previous births, here, I bestow them all on these brothers! Please, protect him too!” Hearing this Prabhu ran and lifted Madhayi with both his hands and embraced him in a hurry saying,“Madhayi! You have become extremely dear to me!” Madhayi experienced extreme bliss due to Prabhu’s loving embrace. The on-lookers were awestruck on seeing the ruffian brothers rolling in the dust of Prabhu’s feet and lamenting aloud with their pride crushed. Prabhu held both the brothers and instructed his devotees to chant the Names of the Lord. The devotees joyously chanted aloud to the accompaniment of instruments –
“Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
Jagayi and Madhayi felt elated on seeing and hearing this Nãma Sankirtan. Cries of “Victory to Gaur Hari!” pierced the skies. They all started moving towards Prabhu’s house as they kept chanting the Divine Names. Jagayi and Madhayi followed Prabhu. To be continued...
