From Srimad Bhãgavatam
‘Anădhyavidhyopahatătmasamvidha
May You,
‘Janobudhoyam nijakarmabandhanah
The ignorant men, bound by their [past] karmas, perform karmas with desire for enjoyments. This false knowledge can be overcome only through Your service, the Paramaguru. May that Paramatma be our Paramaguru and remove the knot of our heart (identification with the body)!
‘Yatsevayaagnehriva rudrarodanam
On being heated in fire, cleansed of its dirt the silver shines; just so, man by worshipping who is easily cleansed of his mind’s impurities and attains to his true identity May He, the Eternal, the Paramaguru, be our Guru!
‘Na yatprasădaayutabhăgalesam
I surrender unto You whose blessings cannot be matched even to a fraction of a part of the blessings of all devas and human gurus put together!
‘Achkshuh-andhasya yathaagraniih krutah
The ignorant being led by another ignorant is akin to the blind man being led by another blind man. We, who are desirous of Atma tattva, have adopted You, who illumines all the senses and is self-luminous Awareness as our Guru!
‘Jano janasyădishatesateem matim
Ordinary Guru gives instructions of false knowledge to others. Through this false knowledge people attain only to the world that cannot be crossed over. On the other hand, You, very easily, instruct true knowledge that is ever blissful and eternal. By that knowledge devotees attain to their true identity!
‘Tvam sarvalokasya suhrut priyeshwaro
You are the well-wisher, the friend, the dear Lord, the soul, the Master who removes ignorance, the Knowledge and the bestower of all prayers, to all the worlds! Yet, the ignorant people, bound by desires, do not know You who are the innermost dweller of the heart!
‘Tam tvămaham devavaram varenyam
I surrender untoYou, the worshipful Lord and the best of the Devas, in order to receive instructions of True knowledge. Oh! Bhagavăn! Cut asunder the knots of ignorance by the light of Your words and light up the Atma swaroopa!
Radhe Krishna |
