Script from Scriptures (39) The sons of Rishabha Yogi - Kavi, Hari, Anthariksha, Prabuddha, Pippalãyana, Ãvirhotra, Drumila, Chamsa and Karabhãjana (also called as Navayogis) - who were great devotees, at the sacrifice conducted by the King Nimi - The King Nimi said, “Please expound in detail the various incarnations of the Lord in the past and those that are yet to occur in future.” Sage Drumila said, “It is really not possible to enumerate all the glorious attributes of the Lord. It would indeed be immature to even try to enumerate them exhaustively. It might even be possible to count the number of dust particles on the earth in due course of time but not the glories of the Infinite Lord who is the abode of all powers. The Supreme Being Narayana made the body of the Virat(Cosmic Being) and entered that body Himself by a part and came to be known as the Purusha. The Cosmic Whole, into which he has entered, forms His body. The organs of knowledge and of action of all living beings have their source in His organs. The power of senses arises from His Prana. Through the Sattva, Rajas and Tamas aspects of the prakriti, He is the ultimate source of preservation, creation and dissolution of the worlds. He is the original Being - through whose Rajas aspect arose Brahma, Sattva aspect arose Vishnu and Tamas aspect arose Rudra. He incarnated as Nara-Narayana, the son of Dharma Prajapati by his wife Murti, the daughter of Daksha Prajapati, He taught the knowledge that puts an end to karma and demonstrated it in his life too. For the welfare of the world He still abides in spiritual absorption at Badri. Indra felt his position threatened by Rishi Narayana's tapas and sent cupid accompanied by celestial damsels to Badrikãshrama to distract him. Having failed in all the attempts to distract the Rishi, the cupid and his companions were terrified, lest the Rishi should curse them. They praised the Lord saying, “Oh! Lord! You are beyond Maya and are worshipped by self-absorbed saints. Those devoted to your service will have to face many impediments on their way caused by Devas, who cannot tolerate to see the devotees reach a higher realm than theirs. But your devotees overcome the obstacles quite easily, for they have you as their protector." Rishi Narayana who was thus extolled by them, showed them some damsels with stunning beauty in order to humble their pride. The emissaries of Indra found all their charm drowned in the their beauty. The Lord said, “You may take any one among these beautiful damsels who will not be too much of a surprise to the inhabitants of heaven, but none the less be the beauty queen of heaven. Thus they selected Urvasi and went to heaven. Indra was both frightened and wonder struck on hearing their story. To be continued……….
