Around 5.30 p.m. amidst ‘Abhang Bhajan’, Lord Pãnduranga was taken in procession from Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple to Sri Rama Mandira.

On reaching Sri Rama Mandira, His Holiness Sri Sri Swamiji and Sri Nãmananda Giri Swamigal were welcomed with ‘poorna kumba’. The inaugural function commenced with ‘Veda gosha’ followed by invocation. Sri Kãmãkshi Sharada Peethadeeswarar Sri Narayanasrama Swamigal of Hebbur discoursed in Kannada. Sri Nãmananda Giri Swamigal inaugurated the year long ‘Bhakta Vijaya Upanyasa Mella - 2004’, which would culminate in a grand Srimad Bhãgavata Sapthaha, Abhanga Bhajan and Radha kalyanam at Pandarpur on January 2005.

His Holiness Sri Sri Swamiji, in his ‘anugraha bhãshanna’ spoke on the glory of Nãmasankirtan. His Holiness pointed out, “Nãmakirtan is the easiest way to attain the Lord. As sung by Adi shankara, 'Parabramha lingam bhaje Pãndurangam', Lord Pãnduranga is a Deity who can be attained through Nãmakirtan alone.”
His Holiness also spoke about the glory of Pandarpur and the bhakti of the common people there - “In every home people performed Nãmakirtan as a part and parcel of their day to day living. Even shopkeepers would take the cymbals and do Nãmakirtan when there were no customers around. If a Sadhu were to pass by singing kirtans, the shopkeeper would at once close down the shop, rush to the Sadhu, garland him and join the Nãmakirtan. He would return to his shop only after the Nãmakirtan came to an end. It was amazing to see even toddlers recognizing Sadhus. Such is the glory of the soil of Pandarpur. All other ‘Kshetrãs’ (Holy places) are famous due to one or two Mahans. But Pandarpur has the distinction of having innumerable Mahans and the most striking feature is that none of them was a Sanyasi. When one sees the life and Bhakti of the people of Pandarpur one realizes with wonder that Kali has not been able to hold its sway here in this Kshetra!

His Holiness said that throughout the year we have the opportunity to listen to the lives of great Mahans who lived here, in Pandarpur, and thus develop a deep yearning to visit Pandarpur.
