The Master's Mantra

Sri Swamiji -

  • "Do not care about religious dogmas, faiths and differences. When compared to the Consciousness within man these are but trifling. When this Consciousness develops in a man he turns into a powerful one who does good. First earn this. Do not criticize others. All religions and faiths have good things in them. Illustrate (to the world), through your life, that religion is not mere words or name or differences but ‘Atma săkshătkăra’ (Self-realisation) only. Only those who have attained this can comprehend this. Only those who have attained ‘săkshătkăra’ can make it known to others. Only they can be the (spiritual) Masters of the world. Only they are verily the power of spiritual light."

The Translation:

Pallavi

Oh ! Krishna!
Reveal Yourself My Lord!
Full of compassion that You are!

Anupallavi

Do reveal Yourself to me who am contemplating on You in solitude!

Charanam

I have surrendered my body, wealth and soul unto You!
Do you heed these pleadings of Muralidhara?

The Paduka

Sri Swamigal's Paduka

Sriman Nigamantha Desikan, a great Vaishnava Saint lived from mid-thirteenth to mid-fourteenth century- 1268-1369. Of the innumerable 'Granthas' (texts) written by Him the highly revered and considered as the most extraordinary piece is His "Paduka Sahasram" - a thousand verses on the 'Paduka' of Lord Ranganatha. The Saint has in all composed 1008 verses, the last eight apologizing in all humility for daring to compose these 1000 verses on the Paduka!

Sri Desikan's contemporary Sri Appayya Dikshitar had written a commentary on the "Paduka Sahasram" but unfortunately it has been lost.

Oh! Paduke!
You bear the Vishnupada! (Vishnu’s Lotus Feet)
  And
The clouds move along Vishnupada! (the sky)
Your blue gems with pearls around
Seem like dark clouds with water drops
  And
Just as the clouds move by the Maruts (wind)
  You, too,
  Oh! Paduke!
  Sit on the Maruts (Devas)!
