The Translation:
Pallavi
Oh Vittala! Does it befit you to abandon me?
Oh Rangaraja!(The King!)
Standing on the brick and
Ruling the Bhakta puri (Pandarpur)!
Charanam
Can you to abandon me because I lack devotion?
Oh! What is devotion but your grace!
You can’t count me among the likes of Namadeva, Jnãneshwara !
But I do have the knowledge of their greatness!
And sure am I that this knowledge itself will fetch your grace!
So, Oh Vittala! Does it befit you to abandon me?

The Paduka
Sriman Nigamantha Desikan, a great Vaishnava Saint lived from
mid-thirteenth to mid-fourteenth century- 1268-1369. Of the innumerable
'Granthas' (texts) written by Him
the highly revered and considered as the most extraordinary piece is His
"Paduka Sahasram" - a thousand verses on the 'Paduka' of Lord Ranganatha.
The Saint has in all composed 1008 verses, the last eight apologizing
in all humility for daring to compose these 1000 verses on the Paduka!
Sri Desikan's contemporary Sri Appayya Dikshitar had written a
commentary on the "Paduka Sahasram" but unfortunately it has been lost.

Oh! Manipãduke!
The poets sing Your praises!
Seeing
Your gait, melodious sound, the pearls, beautiful white wings,
Your capability to hold all the worlds under Your suzerainty
Praise you as the ‘Royal Swan’!
Rightly are You on the Lotus Feet of the Lord!
You are, indeed, a Swan!
Admiring these traits of Yours
The water birds accept You as the Royal Swan
(Hamsa - Swan is the right representative of the Acharya (Master). The Paduka is our Master. Nammãzhwãr
(in the form of the Paduka) is indeed our first Acharya)
