The sons of Rishabha Yogi - Kavi, Hari, Anthariksha, Prabuddha, Pippalãyana, Ãvirhotra, Drumila, Chamsa and Karabhãjana (also called as Navayogis) - who were great devotees, at the sacrifice conducted by the King Nimi -

The King now asked, “Please be gracious to expound on Karma Yoga, a means that enables one to shirk the bond due to activity and purifies the mind.”

To this Sage Aavirhotra said, “The import of the Vedas cannot be easily comprehended. The Vedic sentences imply an indirect purpose and not the heavenly felicities they seemingly offer. Just as a medicine is prescribed to cure a disease, so also the karmas are ordained in the vedas in order to free a man from the bonds of karma and not to continue indulgence in them. Failure to follow the vedic dictums is a sin and throws one into this transmigratory cycle time and again. Performing the karmas ordained by the vedas in a detached spirit and as a dedication to Lord, frees one from the bondage and leads to Atman - consciousness. Propitiating Lord Kesava according Tantric rites speedily cuts asunder the knots of I-sense which binds one to the body. The aspirant who so desires should approach a Guru and receive instruction in the ceremonial worship of the Mahapurusha. After bath, he should purify his body ( by pranayana etc ) and protect himself by rites like Nyasa and then worship Hari. The aspirant after preparing the materials of worship should worship the image of deity with great devotion or perform mental worship by installing the Image of the deity in his heart. He should meditate on the Lord as a whole and also all the parts of His body, His attendants, His weapons etc while chanting the Moolamantra. He who thus worships Achyuta, the Supreme Lord and the Soul of all, will soon be liberated from samsara.
