The sons of Rishabha Yogi - Kavi, Hari, Anthariksha, Prabuddha, Pippalãyana, Ãvirhotra, Drumila, Chamsa and Karabhãjana (also called as Navayogis) - who were great devotees, at the sacrifice conducted by the King Nimi -

The King further asked, “Oh gems among the devotees of Sri Hari, please be gracious enough to tell me all about a Bhagavata, a devotee of the Lord. What is his way of life and his attitude?”

Hari (one of the NavaYogis) replied, “ He who sees the Supreme Soul in all as the very manifestation of the Lord is indeed the best among devotees (Bhagavatottama). He who has love for the Lord, amity towards His devotees, kindness to ignorant people and indifference to his antagonists is a devotee of second grade. He, who worships the Lord in image alone without showing any consideration either for His devotees or other fellow beings, is a devotee of third grade.

He who, seeing the whole creation as Lord’s Maya, is unperturbed by joy, grief and other such feelings caused by the contact of the senses with the objects of the world, is indeed supreme among the Lord’s devotees. He who, ever immersed in the bliss of Lord’s Presence, is never overpowered by birth, death, hunger, fear, greed, weakness and other failings, is best among the Lord’s devotees. He, who, having Lord Vasudeva alone as his support, is devoid of desires and the actions resulting due to them, is best among the devotees. He who lacks the egoistic sense in this body and is devoid of the feelings of ‘I’ and ‘Mine’ is supreme among the devotees of the Lord.”
