Satsang (company of the Holy) is very important to one who desires to attain God. We are freed even from our shortcomings in the presence of saints. That is the reason great devotees like Dhruva pray (‘Bhaktim muhuh pravahatãm tvayi me prasango’) for Satsang to God. Sri Narada has been blessed with the good fortune of being ever in the company of saints and chanting the sweet Name of the Lord.

The Lord born as Kapila while advising his mother Devahuti says, “Mother! The company of scholars is indeed nothing but bondage. But the company of saints paves way for liberation. The saints are ever immersed in the bliss of listening to My Divine Plays, singing My Divine Plays and meditating upon Me. They are thus unattached to every kind of pleasures of the world and remain unscathed by the worst perils of the world. Mother! Pray for the association of such saints.” Thus satsang is very important. It can be attained only by the grace of the Lord. The words and actions of the saints are capable of liberating the mankind. The saints wander in the world for the good of the down-trodden and the fallen. Srimad Bhãgavatam talks of many incidents where this is illustrated.

Once the sons of Rishabha Yogi - Kavi, Hari, Anthariksha, Prabuddha, Pippalãyana, Ãvirhotra, Drumila, Chamsa and Karabhãjana (also called as Navayogis), who were great devotees, visited the sacrifice conducted by the King Nimi, by the will of God. All the seers and saints present at the sacrificial hall were impelled to rise from their seats on seeing the brilliance of the Navayogis, who shone like a hundred suns. King Nimi joyfully welcomed them and worshipped them duly. He then humbly prayed to them as follows:

“ Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare!
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare !"
