Brahmotsav Invitation

The Home Festival is drawing near. This is the 10th Annual Brahmotsav celebration.

Bhãgavata Dharma that is especially followed at home here entails performance of Utsavs. In His ‘upadesa’ to Uddhãva on the path of Bhakti, Lord Krishna pronounces, (Srimad Bhãgavatam 11:11:36 to 38)

  • Discourse on my Avatara charitra.

  • Celebrate the ‘kãla’ (time) of my avatar.

  • Along with other Bhaktãs conduct Utsavs in my Temples.

  • Go on pilgrimage to Holy places that are mine, observe fast on days such as Ekãdasi, Janmãshtami and Ramanavami, offer ‘naivedyãs’, follow the rules as mentioned in the Vedas and Tantrãs such as the Pãncharãtram. Install my idols with faith and sincerity.

  • Through individual or team effort maintain gardens (filled with fragrant flowers and fruits) and playground adjacent to my Temples.

  • Celebrate Utsavs, individually or in groups, in which dance and music concerts as befitting an Emperor are held.

We recall here the words of His Holiness Sri Sri Swamiji, “A good Utsav is one where innumerable Bhãgavatãs take part to sing the glory of the Lord, day and night, and these Bhãgavatãs should be well honoured. The Divine Couple Premika Varadan and His consort Madhuri Sakhi (Lord Krishna and Radha) should be decorated with a variety of ornaments and flowers for the devotees to enjoy their enchanting and majestic appearance. The Lord and His consort should be taken out in procession on different ‘vãhanãs’ (Divine vehicles). The devotees should enjoy and appreciate the festival much more than the Gopikãs and Gopãs had in Gokulam!”

Brahmotsav is conducted in our Madhurapuri Ashram in all grandeur. Adherence to Bhãgavata Dharma constitutes

  • Prabodhanam - waking up the Lord

  • Unchavruthi - resorting to living on food provided as alms

  • Japa/Pãrãyana - repetition of a single Name of the Lord/reading the Bhãgavatam

  • Katha sravana - listening to the Lord’s Divine Plays

  • Kirtanam - singing the glory of the Lord

  • Dolotsav - performing ‘sayana utsav’ of the Lord

Devotees from all over the world converge in our Madhurapuri Ashram to enjoy
Bhagavãn, Bhãgavata and Bhãgavatam!

Every morning the Ashram precincts will reverberate with Srimad Bhãgavata pãrãyana; every evening with ‘upanyãs’ and every night with Divya Nãmasankirtan!
