Swamigal Speaks

“Does not Vaishnava siddhanta say ‘Sarvam Vãsudeva mayam jagat’ (everything is verily Lord Vãsudeva)? Being in that Vaishnava siddhanta how is that You are an Advaiti?”

Sri Swamiji:

“Once, the same question was placed before Sri Ramana Maharishi. Sri Ramana asked, “What is the use if the questioner sees everything as Vãsudeva but fails to see himself as such (Vãsudeva)?” Therefore, even if you see the whole world as Vãsudeva you should first see yourself as Vãsudeva. If one sees himself as Vãsudeva then the whole world would verily become Vãsudeva.”

“Just as ISKCON, You also do ‘prachãra’ (preach) of “Hare Rama….” Maha Mantra. What is the difference between ISKCON and You?”

Sri Swamiji:

“Though we do ‘prachãra’ of “Hare Rama….” Maha Mantra, we follow Advaita siddhanta.”

“In Srimad Bhãgavatam it is seen that while doing ‘tapas’ Dhruva ate ‘illandai pazham’ (a small berry like red fruit) and ‘villãmpazham’ (wood apple). Do they possess any special quality?”

“Our manas is brought under control by eating ‘Illandai pazham’ and ‘villampazham’. The vasanas of the manas reduces. These fruits have the power to make the manas pleasant. This is the reason that it is said (in Srimad Bhãgavatam) that Dhruva ate these fruits while doing ‘tapas’.”

“I practice dhyana at home. But, there is lot of disturbance due to excessive noise. Can You please advise me how to go about it in such an atmosphere?”

“ ‘Then mezhugu’ (a kind of wax) is available in shops. If you plug your ears with cotton piece on which this has been applied, noise will not disturb you.”

“Why do we deem taking Bhagavãn in a procession in a chariot (‘ther’) during festivals (‘Tiruvizha’) as an important function?”

“Persons who had intensely worshipped a particular God and attained Him (but not attained Jivan mukti state) is taken to the ‘loka’ (world) of that particular God only in a chariot-like vehicle. Seshadri Swamigal has seen Mahatma Vittoba who lived in Polur going in such a chariot. Similarly, Vãsudeva parabrahmam, another Mahatma, also visited Vaikuntam only in a chariot. As our Maharishis had, through their divine vision (‘divya drishti’) seen such scenes, they built similar shaped vehicles on earth and worshipped.”
