The 'Ucchishtam' of the Guru
is His Words/Upadesas!
Sri Swamiji -
A disciple who had received ‘upadesa’ (initiation) of Gayatri Mantra from a ‘Uttama Guru’ did not embrace asceticism (‘sanyãs’), though he was a deserving candidate. A Sadhu asked the reason for this. The disciple explained, “It is the rule that one who takes ‘sanyãs’ should not chant the Gayatri. I do not need that ‘ãsrama’ (way of life), however great it be, if it forbids chanting the Mantra that the Guru has initiated me into!”
Though children are attracted to play they do their schoolwork out of fear for their parents. But, later on in their lives they enjoy the fruit. Similarly, all the good work that one does to earn the affection of the Guru bestows ‘kshema’ (welfare) on him later.

Is verily the form of the Ashtăkshara (eight lettered mantra)

The Paduka
Sriman Nigamantha Desikan, a great Vaishnava Saint lived from
mid-thirteenth to mid-fourteenth century- 1268-1369. Of the innumerable
'Granthas' (texts) written by Him
the highly revered and considered as the most extraordinary piece is His
"Paduka Sahasram" - a thousand verses on the 'Paduka' of Lord Ranganatha.
The Saint has in all composed 1008 verses, the last eight apologizing
in all humility for daring to compose these 1000 verses on the Paduka!
Sri Desikan's contemporary Sri Appayya Dikshitar had written a
commentary on the "Paduka Sahasram" but unfortunately it has been lost.

Oh! Pãduka!
The Lord
Beloved of the Gopikãs
does not leave you
out of Love
as
You are also a Gopika (protector of the Lord’s Feet)!
loud sound
You emit in the great walk
typical of
the big crowd of Gopis
so,
even after attaining Rangam (stage)
(Lord) Ranganatha
does not leave You!
