Unto that GURU I prostrate! Chaitanya Mahãprabhu (24) On the battlefield of the Mahabharata war, the Lord showed his magnificent form (Virãt swaroopa) only to Arjuna upon his request. There were millions of warriors on each side. Not one among them saw this form of the Lord. But for the Divya Dhrushti (Divine vision) bestowed upon Arjuna by the Lord, even he would not have been able to see that form. Similarly, Sanjaya was able to see the magnificent form of the Lord only due to the grace of Vyãsã Bhagavãn. Devoid of divya dhrushti, such visions are impossible. Only the devotee whom God Himself chooses as His own is blessed with such sight and only to him does the Lord reveal Himself. Even in Gauranga’s life, though he lived like an ordinary devotee of the Lord, very often the godly state manifested in his body. At such instances every movement of his was possessed with divinity. Those elite devotees, who were capable of understanding, understood that state very well. Once, Gauranga spent 42 hours in the divine state. This is described in his life history as “Saptaprahariya Bhava” or “Mahaprakasha” by the Vaishnavaites. Vasudeva Gosh, Murari Gupta and Mukunda Dutt have written about what they saw and experienced when they were present with Gauranga during that time in Chaitanya Charitãvali. Let us also read about it. One morning, devotees gathered in Srivas Pundits’ house. Advaitãchãrya, Nityananda, Srivas Pundit, Gadãdhar, Murari Gupta. Mukunda Dutt, Narahari, Gangadas, Mahaprabhu’s uncle named Chandrasekhara Ãchãrya, Purushottam Ãchãrya, Vasudeva Gosh, Haridas and many other devotees were present. No sooner had they assembled than Mahaprabhu arrived there. That day the devotees experienced an indescribable bliss as soon as He came there. Usually Mahaprabhu would sit along with others like a devotee and do kirtan. The divine state would manifest in him only after the kirtan. That day, even as he entered, he majestically walked straight towards the seat meant for the Lord and pushing aside all the idols, sat on the seat peacefully but in a peculiar manner. To be continued...
