Sri Swamiji     Ucchishtam
Tvameva kutuhala keli-Krishna!... (Sri Swamiji's Song)
    The Paduka

Ucchishtam
Leaf - 19

The 'Ucchishtam' of the Guru is His Words/Upadesas!

Sri Swamiji -

  • Equality, simplicity, and purity prevail in the presence of true saints.

  • One should constantly repeat the names of God irrespective of any activity that he might be involved in. Every moment of our life that is spent without the thought of God is indeed a waste.

Tvameva kutuhala keli-Krishna!...

Sri Swamiji's Song:

Pallavi

Tvameva kutuhala keli-Krishna!

Radhe! Radhe! Iti mama geetam!

Kuhoo kuhoo koojati tava venuhu!
Bahu bahu madhuram tava murali! (Tvameva kutuhala keli)

The Translation:

Pallavi

Oh! Krishna!
The Lord who
Ever rejoices in performing his lilas
I am Thy maid!
Ever jubilant and excited (in your service)!

Charanams

Holy Vrindãvan is my only home!
Ever thinking of Your various sports
Do I live!

Oh! Krishna!
One with the most captivating form!
One who breaks
Curd pots of Gopis! (while roaming in Gokula!)

“Radhe! Radhe!”
Do I always sing!
Feast to the ears indeed are
Every word of your Divine Charita (life)!

As days pass by I have become more and more pious
In doing humble service to You!
Oh! Lord!
Peace fills me
The moment I meditate upon Your Divine form!

Ever new and novel
are your lilãs (Divine sports)!
Shattered into pieces is my fear(of samsãra)
By chanting Your Divine name!

“Kuhoo! Kuhoo!”
Mellifluously sounds Your flute!
And sweetest is the music that
Flows from your Murali(flute)!

The Paduka

Sri Swamigal's Paduka

Sriman Nigamantha Desikan, a great Vaishnava Saint lived from mid-thirteenth to mid-fourteenth century- 1268-1369. Of the innumerable 'Granthas' (texts) written by Him the highly revered and considered as the most extraordinary piece is His "Paduka Sahasram" - a thousand verses on the 'Paduka' of Lord Ranganatha. The Saint has in all composed 1008 verses, the last eight apologizing in all humility for daring to compose these 1000 verses on the Paduka!

Sri Desikan's contemporary Sri Appayya Dikshitar had written a commentary on the "Paduka Sahasram" but unfortunately it has been lost.

Hey! Pãduka!
One on whom
Your dust falls
Seeks nothing else!
Thus
These Mahãns purify
The whole world
By their existence!
Surprising indeed!
It is (that)
Those who
Receive your ‘parãga’ (dust)
Become
‘Aparãga’(desireless)!

“ Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare!
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare !"
