MahãSivarãthri celebrations at Vadavãmbalam
March 12th 2002
Sri Swamiji performed five kãla abhisheka in the Adhishtãnam of Sri Ãtma
Bodendra Swamigal who reigned as the Peethãdipathi of the Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt for 52
years from 1586 to 1638. It was as much an honour for the Mutt to have such a Mahãtma
as its Peethãdipati as it was for Him to occupy it.
He had attained Samadhi during his travel, in Vadavãmbalam which lies between
Villupuram and Panrutti in TamilNadu, India(one has to alight in 'ChinnaKallipattu').
'Guru Prakase Dheeman' - a disciple should be one who spreads the glory of his Guru. The
greatness of Sri Ãtma Bodendra Swamigal needs no verbal declaration when one learns
the name of his foremost disciple - 'Sri Bhagavan Nãma Bodendral'.
The unknown samadhi of this great Mahãn was traced by none other than Sri
Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Swamigal(Mahãperiyava) of Kanchi Kãmakoti Peetam.
A Brindãvan and a linga were consecrated here in 1927.
Every year Sri Swamiji has been celebrating Mahãsivarãthri at this
Adhishtãnam with five kãla abhisheka. This year there was a special
'Ekãdasa Rudra Pãrãyana'. Sri Mallikarjuna Somayãji, Mukhya
Adhyãpak of our mission Patasãla - Sandeepani Gurukulam and his senior
Vidyãrthis - Raghavendra Sarma, Bhuvanasundar, Venkataraman, Hari, Suryanarayanan,

Ekãdasa Rudram - Moolam
Upanishads - Rudram and Chamakam
during the five kãlams respectively.

chanted during all five kãlams.
After the second kãla, Bhagavãn Ramana Maharishi's Akshara Manamãlai
and Upadesa Undiyar were chanted by Ms. Nirmala Giri. Sivapuranam was rendered by Dr.Vasu.
