Swamigal Speaks...

<Prev |  Next>

Earlier, I used have various visions externally when I used to meditate. I do not get such experiences now. Why?

Sri Swamigal:

When experiences start to appear internally then the external experiences will reduce little by little.

My mother does not like me visiting temples or coming to the Satsang. But shastras ordain that the mother has to be regarded as God and that one should abide by her words. What do I do?

Sri Swamigal:

As per the shastras a child has to obey the parents and abide by their words. Similarly, as per the shastras a wife has to abide by the words of her husband. In all worldly matters one has to abide by their words. However, if any one of them advices against spiritual matters it need not be followed.

Bharata did not accept the kingdom that Kaikeyi had got for his sake because it was against Lord Rama. When Hiranykashipu asked Prahlada to drink poison, he did so happily. Prahlada obeyed him in all matters except when he was told not to utter Bhagavannaama. So was Meera. She obeyed her husband Rana Kumbha in all matters. But she did not obey only when she was told not to do Krishna Bhakti. But God has indeed showered grace on all of them. Therefore, it is not obligatory to listen to anybody’s advice against God.

Why has Lord Krishna adorned peacock's feather on his head?

Sri Swamigal:

Amongst all the birds peacock is the least lustful. This is also one of the reasons why Lord Krishna has adorned peacock's feather on his head.

Do Brahmam, Paramatma and Bhagavan denote the same entity?

Sri Swamigal:

It is the same entity that is called as Brahmam by Vedantins, Paramatma by Yogis and Bhagavan by Devotees. All these denote the same entity.

All my sincere efforts to stop drinking coffee is in vain. What do I do?

Sri Swamigal:

Habits cannot be shunned easily. It is advisable to avoid teaching our children those habits that we regret. It will do immense good to avoid this coffee habit for the children right from their young age.

I always experience fear in everything. Kindly suggest a ‘stotra’ (prayer) to get rid of it.

Sri Swamigal:

Chanting Tulasidas's Hanuman ‘Chalisa’ daily will be fruitful.
