Bhagavãn in His deep compassion desires to free us from this shackle of ‘samsara’
The Vedas and scriptures proved futile as their essence were not grasped. Bhagavãn then took various Avatars. But these also did not meet the intended purpose. As seen in Krishna-avatara Arjuna only developed fear of Krishna when blessed with His Viswaroopa Darshan.
Bhagavãn has then been sending down innumerable Mahãns to the earth. These Mahãns are born and live amidst the people. Thus, it has been easy for the people to relate themselves to Mahãns. Since Bhagavãn has ‘Willed’ the work of such Mahãns they have come to stay. It is not bound by time and distance. This is seen in the case of Adisankara, Ramanuja, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and in recent years of Sri Prabhu Pãda, the founder of ISKCON. Their works have been tremendous and alive till date. There has been a long lineage of Guru in this sacred land of Bhãrat. When we take up
‘Guru Parampara’ we find that each one has had a Guru. A Guru now has had a Guru; He has had a Guru and this Guru has had a Guru. The line winds back this way. This is called ‘Jnãna paramapara’ (Lineage of Knowledge). This is how Mahãns have come. Even Rama-Krishnãdi-avatãrs have sought a Guru.
