Kaliyugam

Once there lived in a beautiful village a man called Dhananjayan. Nature had blessed the village abundantly. All the people in the village were wealthy and also led a happy life. Dhananjayan was a businessman whose work was centred in the city. Hence, he decided to rent his house in the village to a good person and shift over to the city. He rented his house to one Boopathi who lived in the same village. He then rented out a house in the city and conducted his business from there.

Boopathi, the tenant of Dhananjayan's house, started digging the garden to plant trees and flowering plants. While digging he was surprised to find his axe strike some metal. He continued to dig and found lot of pots filled with gold coins. He unearthed them all carefully and left them safely in his house. He then met Dhananjayan, the owner of the house, and informed him all about the treasure.

Dhananjayan said, "Well, I have rented out the house to you. So anything you find in that house belongs to you. You do not have to give the treasure to me." But Boopathi explained, "The house belongs to you. I can only live in that house. All the gold coins belong only to you. So please come soon and accept the treasure." He then left for the village. Time just rolled by.

Kaliyugam

Suddenly, one day Dhananjayan went to Boopathi and demanded, "All those pots of gold coins belong to me. Hand them over to me." Boopathi refused to hand them over. He said, "The moment you rented out the house to me all the things in it also have become mine. Hence, I cannot give them to you." The case was taken to the Panchayat.

The Panchayat leader who enquired into the whole case was totally surprised. He wondered, "Initially, both Dhananjayan and Boopathi refused to claim the treasure. But now all of a sudden they have changed their stand and are fighting over the same treasure." He could neither comprehend this sudden change in their behaviour nor find an answer to it. He was a man of Justice and was also a Bhakta (devotee of God). So that night, before going to bed, he prayed to the Lord seeking His blessings to know the reason for the sudden change of attitude in Dhananjayan and Boopathi.

That night the Lord appeared in the Panchayat Leader's dream and explained, "The day Dhananjayan and Boopathi started quarrelling over the treasure was the beginning of Kaliyugam and as time passes this Kaliyugam will only worsen." And God disappeared. It was only then that the Panchayat leader understood the reason why Dhananjayan and Boopathi changed their opinion about the ownership of the treasure.
