Baalaalayam* 2nd September 2000 - 11th September 2000
Under the instructions of Sri Swamigal 'Baalaalayam' of
- Sri Paarthanapalli Divyadesam Sri Kolavalli Ramar sannidhi (on 2nd and 3rd Sept. 2000)
- Sri Tirumannikoodam Divyadesam (on 9th and 10th Sept. 2000)
- Kaavallambaadi Divyadesam (on 10th and 11th Sept. 2000)
were conducted and 'tiruppanni' commenced.
* when a temple
is to be renovated the sanctum sanctorum of the temple is entered for
repair works. So the spirit of / power in the presiding deity is
removed and preserved elsewhere. This sacred religious act is termed as 'baalaalayam'. On an auspicious day it is reinstated ('aavahanam') into the idol of the deity thus consecrating it. And that is called 'Kumbabhishekam'.
5th September 2000 - Radhastami - Birth Day of Radha
Radha Ashtami was celebrated on the 5th September, Tuesday, in
Madhurapuri Ashram.
Madhuri Sakhi sametha Premika Varadan was decked with jewels
and flower garlands and seated in the decorated 'oonjal' fixed
right in front of the 'Mandap' in Bhagavatha Bhavanam.
About half a dozen Bhagavathars and a few devotees of Sri
Swamigal had gathered here at the Ashram for the occasion.
The Ashram Veda Patashala Adyapakars along with their students
participated in the celebration. Sri Swamigal sat in front of
the 'oonjal' facing
east and led the bhajan. Starting with Sadgurum Premikam Charanam
Bhajami and Madagaja gamana
Madhuri Ramana, Sri Swamigal went on to sing Radhika Shatakam,
composed by Sri Krishna Premi Swamigal. The Bhagavathars and the
ladies joined in. Sri Swamigal, tying the 'angavasthra' around
His waist offered dakshina to Sri
Rajagopal Bhagavathar, Sri Sumanth Bhagavathar, Sri (Pammal)
Balaji, Sri Balaji, Sri Narayanan - the cook at the Ashram,
'Periappa' Seetharaman - a resident helper in the Ashram.
Sri Swamigal conducted Divya Naamam late into the night
followed by 'dolotsavam'.
